Boutique Sport @ London Duathlon

Calling all challenge seekers (and your boyfriends, hubbys, brothers & boy mates!)

Have you ever thought of trying a Duathlon? Similar to a triathlon, just minus the swimming and double the running!

Join Team Boutique on Sunday 15 September to take on one of four challenges in London Duathlon within the stunning surroundings of Richmond Park. Open to all abilities, this run-bike-run event provides you with the perfect opportunity to enter the world of multi-sports.

What’s more… London Duathlon 2013 will be delivered by premium event organisers Limelight Sports, the same company bringing you Boutique Sport. So we know you’re in good hands!

Team Boutique will receive £5 off the entry fee until Sunday 30 June 2013 by quoting ‘BOUTIQUE5’ in the promotional code box when registering online.

We’re planning to have our own Boutique Sport area to meet, plus we hope to include other benefits like a designated bike area in the transition zone to make the day special.

That’s not all, for the first time ever Boutique Sport is opening up to the guys as well.  We know a lot of our Boutique girls are runners, so if you want to sign up as a team entry with a fella and his bike (or vice versa), that’s cool with us!

Find out more about the challenges you can do at londonduathlon.redefiningsport.com

Interested but not sure what a Duathlon is?

A duathlon consists of three sets of athletic activity, but across two disciplines – running and cycling. The first set consists of running, followed by cycling, and then back to running. The distances of each activity vary depending on the challenge you choose… and there are plenty! Similar to a triathlon, you will go through transition to change between disciplines but don’t let that scare you!

*This discount code can be shared with friends and family. All females who use the Team Boutique code will be added to the Boutique Sport database and will be sent the monthly newsletter

Power Up With Running Kit

Team Boutique will #powerup the night at the Energizer Night Run in Battersea Park on Saturday 13 April. This got Boutique HQ thinking about what to wear to the event! Here are some ideas for kit that will match the glowing vibe of the race:

For pre and post race you need to keep limber muscles warm, for that, this jacket is a must and if ever there was a time neon pink and yellow rocked, it would be to #powerup at the Energizer Night Run.  Unisex Flex Fleece

Our *slight* obsession for print leggings in the office is getting a little out of hand. We could do a whole blog just on them. However, for the sake of succinctness we found these bright Lululemon ones that make us think of Spring!

image

If you’re more of a shorts than legging kinda gal, then these Lorna Jane bad boys could be for you. Plus they have a concealed zip which is always handy for keeping keys and a mobile safe.

 image

If you want to your feet to do the talking on your neon outfit, these Nike Air Max hit the spot in any colour enough to power you up through the race.

image

Not sure what you did before Barry M nail polish? Us neither. These pots are so affordable that buying several at a time is still cheaper than your lunch (take note Chanel). We’ll be trying out these ice cream coloured , matt nail varnishes

image

Whilst we wouldn’t advocate wearing jewellery whilst running, (black eyes from bouncing necklaces, scrapes from a fellow runner’s ring), studs seem to be fine and we couldn’t help but fall for these super cute lightning bolt ones from Etsy, to, er…help you run as fast as lightning? *hangs head in shame*

image

Oh and if you hadn’t heard the ‘Scrunchie’ is back, which on one hand is great (less split ends) and on the other…well the jury is out. If you’re a dedicated follower of fashion might we suggest you purchase something from the vintage-inspired mecca American Apparel.

image

When you join Energizer Night Run you receive a race t-shirt as well as a head torch to light up the night sky, so sign up with Team Boutique we can’t wait to see you there

Resolution: Run That Track!

Kerry Patterson is undertaking a new challenge in 2013 ‘RunThatTrack’ Here she explains all in her first blog for Boutique Sport…

From what I have noticed, a lot of ladies at Boutique Sport have a real passion for running. I’m very much a novice in this domain and my exercise routine attempts to avoid running at all costs, and that means at all costs. Give me a Muay Thai session or a Crossfit workout and I’m much more of a happy bunny. The problem arises that in order to shred the fat I hold so dear to my heart, I need to throw in a bit of running to these sessions. Cue my 2013 Fitness Goal - ‘RunThatTrack’.

RunThatTrack was conceived in 2009 after a few drinks one night and now takes place at each and every Formula 1 Grand Prix. It’s an event whereby any and everybody who works in F1® can participate. The problem being that F1® is not only very competitive in its nature as a whole, but it’s completely overrun with men. Not a bad thing I hear you say. True, but when it comes to a novice competing, the stakes are high and I may only bring shame to my door and get a life time of ridicule from my boss.

What makes RunThatTrack even more compelling, is that it has developed in to a charity run too, where each new person posting a time at that specific track results in a $50 donation to the Make A Wish Foundation, courtesy of charity partner UBS.

I’m travelling to 6 out of the 19 races in 2013 and first up for me is Malaysia in March. The countdown is on to get this non runner in to a runner who can handle the distances and the inclines each track will offer. The tracks aren’t as flat as you might think!

So now my goal is set (and in order to save face) it’s time to tackle the training. Being a novice I’ve started following a program called ‘Cardio for Leanness’ to shred a few pounds and make lugging this rump around a bit easier. HR monitor at the ready – it’s time for training to begin.

Cheer on Kerry by following us on Facebook and following us on Twitter @BoutiqueSport using the hashtag #RunThatTrack

DOUBLE DELIGHTS AS BOUTIQUE TURNS UP THE HEAT AT YOTOPIA

On Monday 19 November we served up our hottest event yet; with 50 London ladies taking to the mats at Covent Garden studio, Yotopia, to experience Hot Pilates (workout in 40°C) or traditional Yogalates (at room temperature).

With both classes fully booked and lots of new Boutique faces, it was a great way to start the week off, even if we can still feel it. After the classes, tasty nibbles promoting post workout recovery were provided by Soulmate Food, as well as refreshing Vita Coco, 100% Natural Coconut Water – a Boutique favourite!

Lorna Jane Activewear  showcased their latest winter workout wear; with brightly coloured workout tops and all weather leggings, perfect for those cold winter night sessions. Our ladies were even treated to an extra 20% off sales on the night! Everyone left with a goodie bag and a big smile.

We loved the Yotopia studios, and would definitely recommend a visit; it’s just 5 minutes away from Covent Garden tube station and is a great oasis away from the busy street of Christmas shoppers. For more information visit: www.yotopia.co.uk/
